Hongcheon Wild Greens Festival
About the Festival
Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, boasts the largest area among all cities and counties in Korea, with 85% of its land covered by lush forests, making it a natural treasure trove. Its unique geographical feature, where the altitude increases towards the east, provides optimal conditions for clean alpine wild greens to grow naturally. This festival brings together the vitality created by these deep mountains. This year, Hongcheon has prepared a special festival where wild greens, filled with the energy of clean forests, meet wild ginseng (Sanyangsam), a symbol of stamina. At the festival site, you can see a variety of wild greens grown in the high-altitude areas of Hongcheon, from fragrant and fresh Myeong-i (Siberian onion) to Cham-dureup (Aralia elata shoots) and Eom-namu-sun (Kalopanax shoots). You can also take care of your health with precious wild ginseng, which will restore your energy during the change of seasons. A special restaurant will be operated where you can immediately grill and enjoy the fresh wild greens and wild ginseng purchased on-site with "Hongcheon Handon," Hongcheon's premium pork. From May 1st to 3rd, you can enjoy the healthiest moments through sight and taste at Torisup Urban Forest Park.
