Artist Choi Young-wook's work always begins with one fundamental question. “What traces does life leave, and where do those traces flow?” He has explored this question under the name 'Karma' for over 20 years. Karma is not just a series title but the central concept moving his pictorial world, an attitude toward existence, and a structure defining how he relates to the world. To the artist, the lines of the moon jar are not a reproduction of actual cracks but a drawing containing his own story; in the way lines meet, part, and reconnect, he reads the cycle of life. In that process, he gained the title 'Karma,' a name that reflects a belief that a life lived diligently eventually returns as positivity, rather than staying within a specific religious interpretation. This exhibition consists of four sections: Exploration, Discovery, Internalization, and Expansion. These four journeys go beyond formal divisions, representing the flow of thought across the artist's 30-year body of work and a structure that visualizes the trajectory of his maturing pictorial life. It is an exhibition where the audience facing the exhibition can follow the artist's journey, recall their own karma, and have time to quietly contemplate their own lives by going deep into their inner worlds. This exhibition aims to be a small opportunity to open the door to such contemplation.
