Ansan Seongho Cultural Festival

This cultural and arts festival is held to inherit and develop the achievements and spirit of Seongho Yi Ik, a prominent figure of Ansan who spent his life in Cheomseong-chon (now Ildong) developing practical and effective scholarship through Silhak (Practical Learning) based on the spirit of Silsagusi (seeking truth from facts). Starting with a traditional Confucian memorial service at Yi Ik's shrine, the festival offers various sights and activities, including Ansan's local cultural assets (Dunbaemi Nori, Wari Pungmul Nori), traditional performances, folk games, the Samduhoe experience rooted in Silhak spirit, and unique local traditional booths. Events like the Seongho Art Contest and Silhak Golden Bell for children and youth demonstrate that it is a festival for all ages. Additionally, through panel exhibitions on Seongho's philosophy and special lectures linked with the Seongho Museum, visitors can experience Yi Ik's love for the people, the spirit of Silsagusi, and the history, culture, and arts of Ansan.
