About the Festival

The Muan Hwangto Tidal Flat Festival is an ecological experience festival held at the Muan Tidal Flat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, under the theme "The Tidal Flat is Alive." It is a festival that promotes the ecological value of the Muan Tidal Flat, Korea's first Wetland Protection Area No. 1, and the excellence of the red clay (hwangto) tidal flat, conveying the meaning of the coexistence of nature and humans through experiences and cultural events. The festival venue, Muan Hwangto Tidal Flat Land, features the Muan Tidal Flat Exploration Bridge, the longest 1.5km maritime pedestrian wooden bridge in Korea, and ecological experience facilities, making it an ecotourism destination where visitors can experience the tidal flat and the sea up close. During the festival, experiences, cultural events, exhibitions, and performances themed around tidal flat ecology are operated, with various contents designed for families to participate in together. The Muan Hwangto Tidal Flat Festival is a festival that aims to promote sustainable ecotourism and local cultural revitalization by linking the conservation value of the World Heritage Muan Tidal Flat with local ecological and cultural resources.
