About the Festival

The 30th Ulsan Whale Festival is a representative cultural tourism festival of Ulsan, hosted by Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City and organized by the Whale Culture Foundation. It is set against the history of Jangsaengpo, once a center of whaling, transforming into an ecological city where whales and humans coexist. Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, the festival will be held under the theme "Whale's Invitation, 30th Birthday Party!" and the slogan "Whale to be Together." The festival will take place for four days from October 15 (Thu) to October 18 (Sun), 2026, in the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Special Zone. The main event spaces include the Whale Theater (main stage), Saeu Madang, Whale Experience Yard, Busking Zone, and a flea market zone for small business owners. For visitor convenience, a transfer-type Welcome Gate will be operated at the Taehwagang Station Square. During the festival, various representative programs such as opening and closing ceremonies, a special fireworks show, theme performances, a 300-person citizen chorus, and a whale parade will be held. In addition, a variety of cultural experiences and competitions for all generations will be featured, including the Whale Land Kids Festa, Challenge! Whale Rider Challenge, Wish Whale Project, AR and responsive media experiences (Whale's Dream AI Zone), Whale Family Dancing Star, and a Family Song Festival. Other offerings include the 30th-anniversary archive exhibition "Whale's Time," a food zone (Whale Table), a whale flea market, and linked tourism facilities (Whale Sea Travel Ship, Whale Ecology Experience Center, Jangsaengpo Cultural Warehouse, etc.).
