The 16th Gwangju Biennale

Opening on September 5, 2026, the 16th Gwangju Biennale, titled "You Must Change Your Life," takes its name from the final line of a poem published by Rainer Maria Rilke in 1908. In the poem, the speaker experiences a shift in their way of seeing the world the moment they encounter a broken ancient statue. As perspectives and positions change, we realize that we can no longer continue living as we did before. I must change.
