About the Festival

The Semiwon Water Lily Cultural Festival is a representative autumn garden culture festival held at Semiwon in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Semiwon is a garden of water and flowers surrounded by Paldangho Lake on three sides and is Gyeonggi-do's first local garden, featuring traditional Oriental garden styles and various aquatic plants. The Water Lily Cultural Festival is an event centered around water lilies, the representative aquatic plants of Semiwon, and is a festival that provides unique garden attractions in the autumn season. It showcases a differentiated garden landscape where various water lilies and aquatic plants harmonize, including the Victoria water lily, known as the 'Queen of Flowers,' as well as exotic Australian water lilies and colorful tropical water lilies. Visitors can appreciate the beauty of water lilies blooming on the water and enjoy a relaxing break in the city. In particular, as the host site for the 2026 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, it plans to present even richer garden culture content. The Semiwon area is a place where the history of the ship bridge of Jeong Yak-yong, a practical science scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty, is embedded. Equipped with various facilities such as the Lotus Museum, Jangdokdae Fountain, Seahanjeong, and the Ship Bridge, it serves as a complex cultural space where nature, ecology, and culture and art harmonize, and as a year-round garden tourism destination.
