Jeonju Hanji Culture Festival

Since its inception in 1997, the Jeonju Hanji Culture Festival has been leading the industrialization and globalization of Jeonju Hanji, taking the lead in promoting the excellence of the thousand-year-old Jeonju Hanji. Furthermore, it culturally reinterprets the various functions and values of Hanji, expressing the beauty and value of Hanji that has been with people for a long time through the festival. The annually held 'National Hanji Craft Contest' discovers Hanji works filled with the sincerity and touch of craftspeople nationwide, contributing to the development and expansion of the base of Hanji crafts. Additionally, the 'National Children's Hanji Art Contest' is a competition where children's infinite imagination and creativity are displayed on Hanji drawing paper, helping future generations naturally encounter our unique Hanji culture and understand its value and beauty. In this way, the Jeonju Hanji Culture Festival goes beyond the succession and development of traditional Hanji, reinterpreting Hanji as modern cultural content and providing a venue for cultural arts that various generations can enjoy together, leading the way in widely promoting the value of Jeonju Hanji both domestically and internationally.
