2026 D.FESTA Small Theater Festival

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the <D.FESTA Small Theater Festival> has strived to lead a better performance culture by identifying changes in the domestic production environment and the direction of the performance market. It aims to seek new avenues for experimental and creative small theater performances. Since 2016, it has worked to bridge the cultural gap nationwide, not just in Daehangno, Seoul, through exchanges between regions such as Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, and Busan. As a result of continuous efforts to expand its scope through cultural exchanges with overseas performance teams, this year it can visibly present the results of past international cultural exchanges, such as Asian co-creation projects with Asian countries like Sapporo and Tokyo in Japan, China, and Taiwan, and the Small Theater Festival in Tokyo. Now, to leap forward as an international festival beyond Korea, it is time to strive for the globalization of the Small Theater Festival by expanding biennial regional hosting and linking with festivals in various countries. Starting with the successful hosting of this 20th anniversary <D.FESTA Small Theater Festival>, we hope it will serve as a stepping stone to promote excellent domestic performances abroad and to gauge and understand the cultural levels of other countries.
