About the Festival

2026 Gwangju Gastronomy Week is a culinary festival that connects the rich food culture and local gastronomic resources of Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, into vivid tourism content. Ingredients, food, people, spaces, and culture are linked in a single line, allowing visitors to experience Gwangju's unique gastronomic ecosystem in a multi-dimensional way. From masters and artisans who have preserved local flavors for a long time to young chefs who sensually reinterpret traditional tastes and gastronomic activists who contemplate ecological values, everyone gathers in one place. It offers a special journey that goes beyond simply tasting food, where ingredients become dishes and further expand into local stories. The festival kicks off with a grand opening ceremony held at 'Ogaheon,' a quiet traditional Hanok. The 'Discount Week' of Gwangju Gastronomy Week, held for just 10 days from October 2 to October 11, collaborates with Blue Ribbon Survey, Korea's representative restaurant guide, to provide tours of verified restaurants and special benefits. In addition, 'Yangnim Spoon Week' will be held in the Yangnim-dong area, where history and culture breathe, to introduce Gwangju's excellent gastronomic stores to citizens and tourists. As sustainable gastronomy events, 'See, Eat, and Learn Gastronomy' offers various experiences of the diverse values and new attempts of food culture, and 'See, Eat, and Learn Vegan Gastronomy Trip' explores eco-friendly food culture containing environmental and ecological values. During the festival, a promotional booth will be operated at the Asia Culture Week site of the Asia Culture Center (ACC) to promote the charm of Gastronomy Week, and online events that anyone can easily participate in will be held together to further enhance the excitement of the festival.
