Poeun Cultural Festival

The 22nd Poeun Cultural Festival is a historical and cultural festival that honors the life and spirit of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju and shares traditional culture with the public. In 2026, marking the 620th anniversary of the burial of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju, the event will be held from October 10 to 11 at the area around the Tomb of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju in Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, under the theme 'Breath of Poeun – Connecting 620.' Through the burial procession and memorial rites, the festival reflects on the footsteps of Master Poeun, and offers a place to encounter traditional arts through commemorative ceremonies, celebratory performances, the Yongin Folk Art Festival, and performances by winners of the National Youth Gugak Competition. With programs like the children's civil service exam experience 'Challenge! Little Top Graduate,' Poeun School, traditional culture experiences, and citizen participation programs, it is a festival where families can learn history and enjoy themselves together. Various food trucks, local food, and agricultural specialty sales areas are also operated to share local culture. The RE-BORN mission, which connects with the Cheoinseong Cultural Festival in September, is a participatory program where participants perform 'Cheoin Guardian' missions to link the historical stories of the two festivals and experience the history and culture of Yongin.
