DMZ OPEN Festival is Gyeonggi-do's representative multi-cultural event designed to experience the peace, ecological, and historical values of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) through various methods such as art and academia. Moving beyond simply viewing the DMZ as a space of division and military tension, it reinterprets the long-preserved ecological environment, historical significance, and the possibility of peace and coexistence through today's cultural language. Gyeonggi-do has expanded the concept of 'OPEN' with the meaning of transforming the 'closed DMZ' into a space open to everyone, and the festival is operated as a multi-cultural event that presents programs of various genres over a long period. DMZ OPEN Festival aims for a festival where people do not just look at the DMZ, but experience it directly by walking, listening, seeing, and thinking. By connecting various programs such as art, academia, and sports into one flow, it aims to share the peace, ecological, and historical values of the DMZ and create an open cultural venue to discover the meaning of 'Greater Peace' together.
